Case Presentations in Psychiatry

The introduction of clinical components into the MRCPsych Part I and of case vignettes into MRCPsych Part II has altered the focus of the exam. Consequently, trainees in psychiatry need to develop skills in presenting case histories and in answering relevant questions on psychopathology and patient management. This book introduces trainees to case presentation and decision making in clinical situations, giving guidance with examples. It contains long cases as presented in the format required for both parts of the MRCPsych examiniation, together with referenced answers. In addition, fifteen sets of four case vignettes each are presented, as in the oral examination for MRCPsych Part II. These will enable candidates to have examination practice. Since it deals at length with techniques for effective preparation for the clinical examination and also covers both Part I and Part II of the MRCPsych, the book will be useful for all psychiatric trainees. It contains much that will be of use to psychiatric nurses, GP trainees, psychiatric social workers and also to medical students.
