A nicely conceived and executed text for advanced undergraduate students of physics. Except for the final chapter (EPR paradox, Bell's theorem, etc.), the topics treated, their sequence and the mode of approach are standard; what distinguishes this fine text from some others are the clarity of the discussion, and the success of the authors' effort to keep details in their place. Useful exercises at the end of all but the last two of the sixteen chapters. Though the authors have been content to leave some topics out altogether, the coverage (of principles and major applications) is remarkably good. The general tone is fresh, friendly.
