Istanbul encounters : time, space and place in an urban context

av Charlotta Widmark, Susanne Carlsson, Henrik Widmark
This book mirrors a field trip to Istanbul conducted in May 2014. It was structured around surveys of the centrally located districts of Beyoglu, Eminönü and Fatih. Together the contributtions paint a picture or give a glimpse of the multifaceted and diversified city of Istanbul in which places are practiced and spaces being formed and given meaning in dialogue with historical battles, current social stratifications and societal struggles. Our hope is that this collection will inspire and provide some arguments for the potential of multidisciplinary studies conducted within the Faculty of Arts at Uppsala.
