A great deal is known about discrete immigrant groups and about confrontations between cultures in Sweden and other parts of the world, but less is known about diversity as a social and cultural phenomenon. In this book, scholars from France, Germany, Great Britain, the United States and Sweden explore the theme of cultural diversity in a variety of empirical settings and from a variety of theoretical viewpoints. The chapters of the book were originally presented to an international conference, "The Organization of Diversity: Botkyrka, Sweden, as a New Multicultural Setting". Hosted by the Swedish Immigration Institute and Museum in Botkyrka, this conference offered an international perspective on the intense cultural diversity which is emerging in Sweden.
