In today"s international world, engineers, scientists and students in technical subjects are increasingly required to discuss and describe their work in English. They have to talk about complex and detailed information that is often difficult (if not impossible) to explain effectively using everyday conversational English. They have to explain such information clearly and precisely if it is to be of use to their listeners and show its relevance to technical and even business goals. In addition, technical communication often takes place under time pressure. Special skills and techniques are needed to deal with such information smoothly and efficiently. This book is intended to help intermediate and advanced students of English develop skills and strategies for discussing technical information and for planning and delivering effective talks in English.
